Front
axle service:
This is a very common Cruiser repair. Generally, the knuckles
on the front axles start to leak. Usually they leak onto the insideof
the ball in back of the front tires. In some cases they will leak
right out of the locking hubs.
Get under your truck and look at the back of the front knuckles.
They will be dirty but they should not be wet with oil. If they
are wet it is time for a front axle service. 80 Series Land Cruisers
are particularly susceptible to this as they are full-time 4WD and
additional wear is placed on the front end.
The rebuilding of the front axle is not difficult, however it takes
a long time to perform and the parts are rather expensive. Unlike
many other shops, we rebuild the entire front axle. The cost for
this service is $985 for a 40, 55 and 60 Series. The 80 series parts
are more expensive and the total cost of an 80 Series font axle
rebuild is $1070.
Our service includes:
- All seals

Possible wild cards:
It is common to find that the calipers, disk brakes, or the wheel
cylinders, drum brakes, are leaking or worn. The soft brake lines
on the axle and from the frame to the axle also wear and crack overtime.
We will inspect all the parts and contact you prior to any additional
work being performed. Don’t mess around with your brakes!
